Scores use the UK nutrient profiling model 2018, published by the Department of Health and Social Care in January 2026, computed per 100g from the per 100g figures Dave's Hot Chicken publishes. Points are given for energy, saturated fat, free sugars and salt, then subtracted for protein, fibre and fruit, vegetable, nut and seed content. A lower score is better. Foods scoring 4 or more and drinks scoring 1 or more are classed as less healthy.
Three inputs are Boone's estimates, because Dave's Hot Chicken does not publish them. Free sugars count all sugar as free except the lactose in the shakes, deducted at 1.3g for every gram of protein. Fibre is estimated from each item's components using typical values for fried potato, bread, breaded chicken, vegetables and pasta. Vegetable content is scored only for the Pickles and the Kale Slaw; potatoes do not count as vegetables in the model.
Chicken items are scored on the figures for the hotter heat levels. The numbered meals, 10pc Bites with Fries and Hot Boxes are excluded because the model scores products rather than meals, and dips and sauces are excluded because a per 100g score is meaningless for a sachet or pot.
