SiS nutrition: calories, sugar and salt compared

Every SiS product in our database broken down by calories, sugar, salt and saturated fat, and checked against NHS daily reference intakes for children aged 4 to 17.

Sweets are almost entirely free sugar. There is little fat and no meaningful protein or fibre, so the sugar figure is the whole nutritional story , and free sugar is the measure the NHS daily limits apply to.

How the range differs

Gums, jellies and chews sit close together on sugar per 100g, so the variable that matters is portion size rather than product. Sour and fizzy lines add acid coatings that affect dental risk independently of the sugar figure.

Bag size is the real variable. A small bag and a sharing bag of the same sweet differ several-fold in what a child actually consumes in one sitting.
