Caffè Nero publishes total sugar for every item, but total sugar includes the lactose in milk, which health guidance does not limit. Boone separates free sugars, the added and syrup sugars SACN caps at 30g a day for an adult, and ranks all 145 items on that basis. A Regular Latte shows 11.4g of total sugar but 0g of free sugar, because almost all of it is lactose.
The Strawberry & White Chocolate Luxury Frappe leads the menu at 51.8g of free sugar, 173% of an adult's daily limit and 273% of the 19g limit for a four to six year old. 16 items on the UK menu exceed the adult limit on their own, and 36 exceed the limit for a young child. Switching to a plant milk usually raises the free sugar rather than lowering it, because oat, almond, soya and coconut sugars are released by processing and do count.

Figures are per portion as served, from the Caffè Nero Allergen, Nutritional & Ingredient Guide (GB) issued 9 September 2026, checked September 2026. Where a published figure was internally inconsistent, Boone has used the value consistent with the rest of Caffè Nero’s data.
Boone derives free sugars rather than using the total sugar Caffè Nero publishes. Lactose in milk is deducted at 1.3g per gram of milk protein, and at 0.4g per gram of protein for yogurt, because NHS daily limits do not count the sugars naturally present in milk. Sugars in oat, almond, soya and coconut drinks are counted as free sugars, because they are released by processing rather than naturally present. Sugars in whole fruit pots do not count; sugars in fruit purées, honey and syrups do.
Daily free sugar limits are 30g for adults and teenagers, 24g for ages 7 to 10 and 19g for ages 4 to 6.
Every drink is listed with semi-skimmed milk, the default Caffè Nero serves, except the Cinnamon Roll Latte and Iced Blueberry Muffin Matcha, which Nero serves with oat as standard. Oat, almond, soya and coconut versions of each drink have their own pages and can be compared in the calculator on any item page. Nero's coconut option is Alpro Barista Coconut, made on a soya base. Where a drink comes in Regular and Grande, each size is listed separately. Whipped cream is excluded, as a topping, except on the Luxury Hot Chocolate and Luxury Mocha, which are only served with it.
