Scores use the UK nutrient profiling model 2018, published by the Department of Health and Social Care in January 2026, computed per 100g from the per 100g figures Greggs publishes. Points are given for energy, saturated fat, free sugars and salt, then subtracted for protein, fibre and fruit, vegetable, nut and seed content. A lower score is better. Foods scoring 4 or more and drinks scoring 1 or more are classed as less healthy.
Greggs publishes fibre for every item, so Boone uses it directly rather than estimating it. Free sugars count all sugar as free except in milk drinks, the yoghurt and the porridge, where the lactose is deducted, and the fruit pots, where the sugar is whole fruit. The fruit pots and side salad score the full 5 points for fruit and vegetables. Every other item scores zero for fruit and vegetables because Greggs does not publish the proportion, which overstates the scores of salad sandwiches and the tomato soup.
Dips, sauces and spread are excluded because a per 100g score is meaningless for a pot or portion, and the Breakfast Box and BBQ Bites Meal Box are excluded because the model scores products rather than meals. That leaves 205 items.
