The whole menu at a glance

Each dot is one item. The UK government’s 400-600-600 guidance suggests about 600 kcal for lunch or dinner, so anything past the line is more than a whole meal on its own.

Pizza Express makes every Classic and Romana pizza, its dough balls and Pollo Pesto on a gluten-free base, accredited by Coeliac UK and served with a purple pizza slicer or a gluten-free sticker. This page lists every pizza available on a gluten-free base, plus the dishes Pizza Express lists as suitable for coeliacs as they come. The calculator on each pizza page switches to the gluten-free version, which is usually close to the Classic figure but well above the Romana: a gluten-free Romana Margherita is 1,033 kcal.

How we check the figures

The restaurant’s own numbers, checked and put in context

Source.

Corrections. Figures that cannot be right are corrected, and free sugar is worked out from the ingredients where they are published.

Guidelines. UK government and NHS limits by age and sex. Healthiest and unhealthiest rankings use the UK nutrient profiling model.

Allergens. Always check with the restaurant if you have an allergy.

Images. Item images are illustrations created by Boone, not photographs.

Common questions

Is the Pizza Express gluten-free base lower in calories?+

Not on a Romana. A gluten-free Margherita is 685 kcal on a Classic base, close to the standard 711 kcal, but 1,033 kcal on a Romana base against 769 kcal for the standard Romana.

Is Pizza Express gluten free suitable for coeliacs?+

Pizza Express’s gluten-free dishes are accredited by Coeliac UK and contain no more than 20ppm of gluten, but they may not suit people with a cereal allergy, and the accreditation does not cover delivery orders.
