Sugar

Rowntree's Randoms combine different shaped gummy sweets in one sharing bag. Each sweet weighs approximately 2.4g and contains 1.2g of free sugar - slightly below Fruit Pastilles and Fruit Gums, and comparable to standard Haribo gummy sweets.

All sugar in Rowntree's Randoms counts as free sugar under NHS guidelines. Despite the varied shapes and fruit flavours, the product contains no whole fruit. It is made from glucose syrup, sugar and gelatine. Twenty sweets, a moderate portion from a 150g bag - deliver 24g of free sugar, which is exactly the daily limit for a child aged 7 to 10.

The bag format of Randoms, rather than the tube format of Fruit Pastilles and Fruit Gums, means the total product weight is significantly higher. A 150g bag contains two and a half times as many sweets as a 52g tube, and two and a half times as much sugar. The bag format encourages more eating per sitting.

Twenty Randoms equals the daily sugar limit for a 7 to 10 year old

Each Rowntree's Randoms sweet contains 1.2g of free sugar. Twenty sweets deliver exactly 24g — the full daily limit for a child aged 7 to 10. A 150g bag contains around 63 sweets. Eating a third of the bag uses the entire daily sugar allowance for a primary school-age child, before any other food or drink has been factored in.

No. Despite the fruit flavours and the varied shapes, Rowntree's Randoms contain no whole fruit. All sugar counts as free sugar under NHS guidelines.
