Tropicana Original Orange Juice contains 43 kcal, 9.8g of carbohydrate (9.5g sugar) per 100ml.
Tropicana Original is squeezed directly from oranges and pasteurised without reconstitution from concentrate, which is why it carries 'not from concentrate' on the label. However, all pasteurised juice undergoes 'deaeration' to remove oxygen (extending shelf life), and some manufacturers then add back 'flavour packs' — concentrated orange oils — to restore aroma lost in processing. Despite having no added sugar, the natural orange sugar drives 9.5g per 100ml, which places it in the lower Sugar Tax band.

Sugar Tax (SDIL)
Soft Drinks Industry Levy (lower rate: drinks between 5g and 8g sugar per 100ml). The manufacturer pays £0.18 per litre to HMRC.
Sugar
Tropicana Original Orange Juice contains 9.5g of sugar per 100ml, entirely from natural fruit sugar. Despite having no added sugar, it still counts toward the daily free sugar limit, because the NHS classifies sugars in fruit juice as free sugars once the fruit has been juiced — the cell walls that slow sugar absorption in whole fruit are broken during pressing.
A small glass (150ml) delivers 14.3g of sugar, 48% of the adult daily free sugar limit. The NHS advises limiting pure fruit juice to a maximum of one 150ml glass per day.
What is in it
Pure squeezed orange juice (not from concentrate)
Orange juice (100%). Freshly squeezed and pasteurised, not reconstituted from concentrate. Tropicana sources oranges primarily from Florida and Brazil. No added sugar, no additives.
Small glass (150ml): 14.3g of sugar (48% of the adult daily free sugar limit); Glass (250ml): 23.8g of sugar (79% of the adult daily free sugar limit); Can/Bottle (500ml): 47.5g of sugar (158% of the adult daily free sugar limit).
Tropicana Original Orange Juice is subject to the Soft Drinks Industry Levy at the lower rate. The manufacturer pays £0.18 per litre to HMRC.
Tropicana Original Orange Juice can be consumed by children. The NHS recommends limiting fruit juice to one 150ml glass per day and always diluting it for children.
