Every Asda own-brand breakfast cereal, 43 in all, from corn flakes and wheat bisks to granola and porridge oats, measured against what a specific person needs in a day rather than an adult average. This page covers Asda's own label only, including Exceptional, Free From and Just Essentials. Branded cereals sold at Asda, such as Kellogg's and Weetabix, are not included.
Free sugar, separated from the rest. A box gives one total sugar figure. NHS daily limits count only free sugars, not the sugar naturally in whole dried fruit or milk. Asda Sultana Bran has 24g of sugar per 100g, but only 6.8g of it is free sugar; the rest comes from the sultanas. Asda Frosted Flakes has 22g, and all of it is free sugar.
Every bowl set against an age, with milk. A 30g bowl of Asda Honey Nut Corn Flakes is 8.1g of free sugar: 27% of an adult's daily limit and 43% of the limit for a child aged 4 to 6. Each product page lets you change the portion and the milk, including oat drink, whose sugar also counts as free sugar.
5 of the 43 have no free sugar at all: the plain porridge oats and sachets, Ready Oats and the Exceptional Mixed Nut Muesli. 26 are ultra-processed (NOVA 4), usually because of glucose syrup, flavourings, emulsifiers or added protein and fibre. On the government's 2018 nutrient profiling model, 10 would pass and 33 would be classed as less healthy.
