Kids’ menus from 14 UK restaurant chains and the supermarket foods children actually eat, measured against the NHS daily limits for a child, not an adult.
Every item on these pages is measured against the limit for the child eating it.
Kids’ menus are smaller, but the limits they are judged against are smaller too. Some of the worst and best single items we hold.
Change the age and every percentage updates.
Per portion, the way children eat it. A 30g bowl of cereal, one pouch, one pot.
The same checks as every Boone page, with limits set for the child eating. Read the methodology
NHS guidance sets lower daily limits for children. A 4 to 6 year old should have no more than 19g of free sugar and 3g of salt a day, rising to 24g and 5g at 7 to 10, and 30g and 6g from 11.
Sugar added to food and drink, plus sugar in honey, syrups and fruit juice. It does not include the sugar naturally found in whole fruit or milk. The NHS limits apply to free sugar, so that is what we measure.
We show what the chain publishes. Happy Meals and set kids’ meals are shown as the full meal. Where a chain lists the main, side and drink separately, each has its own page so you can add them up.
Each restaurant’s published UK nutrition guide and the supermarket’s own product information, checked by Boone and dated on every page.
