Every item on the McDonald’s US menu, measured against what a specific person actually needs in a day rather than the adult Daily Value on a label.
Added sugar against a per-meal limit. The Nutrition Facts label shows added sugar as a share of a 50g Daily Value. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025–2030 go further: no more than 10g in a single meal from age 11, and none at all for children aged 10 and under. On that basis a medium Latte, whose 13g of sugar all comes from milk, has none that counts, while a medium Caramel Latte has 30g of added sugar and a large Coca-Cola has 100g. Boone shows added sugar against the per-meal limit on every page.
Limits by age and sex, with UK guidance a click away. The daily sodium limit is 2,300mg for adults and teenagers but 1,500mg for a child aged 4 to 8, so a Big Mac is 46% of an adult’s day and 71% of a young child’s. Every calculator recalculates for an adult man or woman or a child of any age from 4, and switches to UK NHS guidance, which also counts the sugar in juice and fruit purée. A medium Lemonade has 37g of added sugar under US rules and 45g of free sugar under UK rules.
